Hayden Panettiere’s estranged mom slams Gayle King for ‘shameful’ attacks after daughter’s death

Following the death of actress Hayden Panettiere, her estranged mother, Lesley Vogel, has broken her silence to address the public discourse surrounding the tragedy. According to reporting from Page Six and Nine.com.au, Vogel has specifically slammed Gayle King for what she describes as shameful attacks and criticism following her daughter's passing. This public confrontation comes as Vogel raises significant questions regarding the circumstances of Panettiere's final hours. Coverage from USA Today and ABC News indicates that Vogel is now speaking out to challenge the narrative surrounding the event, signaling a public rift between the family and certain media figures. Further details provided by Yahoo indicate that Vogel has specifically targeted the version of events provided by Brian Hickerson, claiming that his account of the situation is full of holes. This direct challenge to Hickerson's testimony suggests a conflict over the factual record of Panettiere's death.

Meanwhile, the entertainment industry is reacting to the loss; TheWrap reports that actress Melissa Gilbert is calling for real change and better protections for child actors, stating that enough is enough. This suggests that Panettiere's death has reignited broader conversations regarding the systemic treatment of young performers in the industry. Contextual support for Panettiere's character has emerged from former colleagues. As reported by Yahoo, a costar from the series Heroes stated that Panettiere frequently stuck up for other actors who were being mistreated during their time working together. This depiction of Panettiere as an advocate for others provides a contrast to the critical discourse mentioned by Vogel. The convergence of these stories—from family disputes and accusations of media misconduct to calls for labor reform in Hollywood—highlights the complex aftermath of the actress's passing and the tension between private grief and public scrutiny.

Moving forward, observers are watching for further responses from the parties named in Vogel's accusations. There is a particular focus on whether Brian Hickerson will address the claim that his version of events is incomplete or inaccurate. Additionally, the call for protecting child actors championed by Melissa Gilbert may lead to further industry-wide discussions. As Lesley Vogel continues to raise questions about her daughter's final hours, the focus remains on the discrepancies between the official accounts and the claims made by Panettiere's mother regarding the events leading up to the death.
