## Executive Summary
Apple AirTag 2nd Generation devices have hit a new low price of approximately $20 per unit across major retailers ahead of an upcoming feature release.

## Intelligence Brief
Apple's second-generation AirTags are currently seeing significant price drops across multiple retail platforms. According to reports from MacRumors and UA.NEWS, a four-pack of these tracking devices has fallen to a new low price of $79 or $79.99. This pricing effectively brings the cost of a single AirTag 2 down to approximately $20 each. This price reduction is occurring on major e-commerce and retail sites, specifically including Amazon and Target, the latter of which is described by Syracuse.com as hosting an ultimate sale on the devices. Coverage of this trend is being driven by several technology and news outlets including 9to5Mac, Mashable, and MacRumors.

These reports emphasize the value proposition for consumers, with Mashable specifically highlighting the savings of $19 on a four-pack for individuals who are planning to travel soon. The consistency of the $79 price point across different reports suggests a broad market adjustment rather than a localized discount. The reporting focuses on the availability of these deals at high-volume retailers, making the second-generation hardware more accessible to a wider audience. Context for this price drop is provided by 9to5Mac, which connects the current discount to the expectation of a new feature coming soon to the AirTag 2. While the specific nature of the feature is not detailed in the provided coverage, the timing of the sale suggests a strategic move ahead of this update.

The second-generation AirTags are being positioned as essential tools for travel and asset tracking, and the drop to the $20 per unit mark represents a notable decrease from previous pricing tiers for the updated hardware. Observers should monitor for the official release of the new feature mentioned by 9to5Mac to see if it alters the value or demand for the current hardware. Since the sales are currently active at Target and Amazon, the duration of these specific price points remains to be seen. Coverage does not specify if these discounts are limited-time offers or permanent price shifts. Future updates will likely clarify if the upcoming feature is a software update for existing AirTag 2 users or a catalyst for further hardware iterations.
