## Executive Summary
Veteran guard Klay Thompson joins the Miami Heat on a two-year, $11.5 million deal after clearing NBA waivers.

## Intelligence Brief
Klay Thompson has officially reached an agreement to join the Miami Heat following a period in which he cleared NBA waivers. The specific financial terms of the agreement, as detailed by The New York Times, consist of a two-year deal valued at $11.5 million. This move marks a significant transition for Thompson, who is now integrated into the Miami Heat roster after the waiver process was completed. Major sports and news outlets have provided extensive coverage of the transaction. NBA.com explicitly confirmed the signing with a headline stating that the Heat have signed Klay Thompson.

ESPN reported that Thompson landed with the Heat specifically after the process of clearing waivers occurred. Additionally, the Sun Sentinel noted that the agreement has been finalized, ensuring that the player is now legally and professionally committed to the Miami franchise for the coming seasons. To understand the context of this movement, it is necessary to note that Thompson had to clear NBA waivers before he could sign this new contract. The waiver process is a standard NBA procedure that allows other teams the opportunity to claim a player's existing contract before they become a free agent. Because Thompson cleared these waivers, he was eligible to negotiate and finalize the specific two-year, $11.5 million arrangement reported by The New York Times.

This sequence of events allowed the Miami Heat to secure the veteran guard for their squad. Moving forward, observers will monitor how the Miami Heat integrate Thompson into their active lineup given the terms of his two-year commitment. While the coverage confirms the signing and the financial specifics of the $11.5 million contract, it does not specify the exact date he will begin playing or his specific role on the team.
