## Executive Summary
The Seattle Mariners have suffered two massive blowouts in less than a week, most recently a 19-2 defeat against the Chicago Cubs.

## Intelligence Brief
The Seattle Mariners experienced a significant defeat on August 23, 2026, losing to the Chicago Cubs by a score of 19-2. This game represents the second time in less than a week that the Mariners have suffered a massive blowout loss. The contest ended with the Cubs dominating the scoreboard, a result documented across multiple sports news outlets reporting on the game's outcome and the specific margin of defeat. Coverage of the event is widespread, with the Chicago Tribune explicitly noting that the Cubs blew out the Mariners.

ESPN provided a full game recap of the 19-2 result, while Lookout Landing described the game as the Mariners losing to the Cubs a lot to a little. The Seattle Times focused on the broader pattern of failure, highlighting that this is the second such blowout the team has endured in a very short timeframe. Critical individual performance issues were highlighted by MLB.com, which reported on the ongoing summer struggles of Miller. During this specific game, Miller recorded a career-high seven walks and surrendered six runs.

This individual collapse serves as a central point of context for the game's result, as the high volume of walks and runs contributed directly to the Cubs' high score and the Mariners' inability to maintain a competitive lead. Future attention will likely remain on the Mariners' ability to stabilize their performance following these two blowout losses in under seven days. Observers will specifically be watching to see if Miller can overcome his summer struggles after reaching a career-high in walks. The team now faces the challenge of recovering from a 19-2 deficit and addressing the systemic issues that have led to multiple large-margin losses in a single week.
