## Executive Summary
Former VP Mike Pence argues that halting ballistic attacks in Ukraine is key to defeating Vladimir Putin, as Kyiv seeks advanced air defense systems.

## Intelligence Brief
Current coverage indicates a push for increased air defense capabilities in Ukraine to counter ballistic threats. According to The Hill, Mike Pence has stated that stopping these ballistic attacks will effectively take the last fighting tool out of the hands of Vladimir Putin. This strategic objective coincides with reported efforts to secure more hardware from international partners. Specifically, reporting from 조선일보 reveals that Ukraine has made a request for South Korea's latest Patriot missiles to address critical air defense shortages currently facing the country. Multiple news outlets are tracking the intersection of US strategic rhetoric and South Korean military hardware.

The Hill focuses on the political stance of Mike Pence regarding the necessity of neutralizing ballistic capabilities. Meanwhile, South Korean outlets such as 조선일보 and The Korea Herald are reporting on the domestic and international requests for military aid. The Korea Herald reports that a lawmaker has proposed the shipment of the Cheongung-II air defense system to Ukraine, suggesting a diversifying array of hardware being considered for delivery to the conflict zone. This trend highlights the ongoing struggle to protect Ukrainian airspace amid depletion of existing resources. The context involves a coordinated effort to find new sources of high-end interceptors.

The request for Patriot missiles and the proposal for the Cheongung-II system demonstrate that Ukraine is looking toward South Korean defense technology to fill gaps in its current defensive perimeter. These developments are framed by the belief that removing the threat of ballistic missile strikes is a primary requirement for altering the course of the war. Future developments depend on whether South Korea will act on the lawmaker's proposal to send Cheongung-II systems or fulfill the request for Patriot missiles. Coverage does not yet specify the official response from the South Korean government regarding these requests. Observers will be watching for official diplomatic communications between Kyiv and Seoul, as well as further statements from US political figures like Mike Pence regarding the broader strategy to deplete Vladimir Putin's remaining military tools.
