## Executive Summary
The Arizona Cardinals make significant roster adjustments on August 25, 2026, involving key defensive and offensive personnel.

## Intelligence Brief
According to reporting from Yahoo Sports, the Arizona Cardinals have taken the action of waiving running back Trey Benson. This roster move comes after Benson spent two seasons with the organization, a tenure that the coverage characterizes as being riddled with injuries. The decision to waive the player marks a definitive shift in the team's backfield management as they move forward from the former third-round draft pick. Yahoo Sports is the primary outlet documenting this specific development.

The coverage emphasizes the struggle Benson faced to remain healthy during his time in Arizona, explicitly linking his departure to the injury-riddled nature of his two-season stint. By highlighting his status as a former third-round selection, the reporting underscores the perceived potential the team once had in Benson before these physical setbacks occurred. To understand the context of this move, it is necessary to note that Benson entered the league as a third-round pick, a position that typically carries high expectations for immediate impact and stability. His inability to maintain health over two full seasons has led to this outcome.

The Cardinals are now adjusting their roster depth at the running back position, removing a player who has been unable to consistently contribute due to medical issues. Going forward, observers will look to see how the Cardinals redistribute the touches previously allocated to Benson and how the team manages its remaining offensive assets. Because the coverage focuses on the waiver of the former third-round pick, the immediate focus remains on the resulting vacancy in the running back rotation and the team's overall approach to roster health and player retention following these two difficult seasons.
