> **Open Intelligence Dossier** · First detected: 2026-08-25 03:07 UTC · Category: Entertainment

## Executive Summary
Hulu has officially canceled the Mindy Kaling-created comedy series 'Not Suitable for Work' after only one season.

## Intelligence Brief
Streaming service Hulu has announced the cancellation of the comedy series 'Not Suitable for Work' after it completed one season. The series was created by Mindy Kaling. This cancellation affects a production that had been positioned within the network's comedy slate, ending its trajectory after the initial season of episodes. Multiple industry publications have reported on the decision.

Variety broke the news as an exclusive report, explicitly linking the cancellation to the Mindy Kaling-created production. Other major entertainment outlets including The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, and TVLine have confirmed the cancellation of the series after one season. Additionally, ScreenRant's coverage characterizes the show as having been a replacement series for 'Best Friends,' adding a specific programming context to the cancellation news. To understand the impact of this development, it is necessary to note the role of Mindy Kaling as the creator of the show.

The project operated as part of Hulu's original content strategy, aimed at filling specific gaps in its comedy programming. The fact that the series is described by some coverage as a replacement for another show, 'Best Friends,' suggests it was intended to maintain a certain viewership demographic or tonal consistency for the streaming service's comedy offerings before the decision was made to cancel it. Moving forward, the coverage does not specify if there are plans for the series to be shopped to other networks or if production on any remaining episodes was halted. Observers will be monitoring whether Hulu announces new comedy replacements to fill the void left by 'Not Suitable for Work.' The reports from Variety, Deadline, and The Hollywood Reporter establish the finality of the decision for the current season, though they do not provide details on the specific performance metrics that led to the cancellation.
