## Executive Summary
Vanderbilt University has officially named Blaze Berlowitz as the starting quarterback for the 2026 football season.

## Intelligence Brief
Vanderbilt University has officially announced that Blaze Berlowitz will serve as the starting quarterback for the 2026 season. This decision resolves the team's ongoing competition for the QB1 position and establishes Berlowitz as the primary signal-caller heading into the season opener. Berlowitz has been selected to lead the offense as the program moves forward into its new campaign. Coverage of the announcement has been widespread across major sports networks and local press. Yahoo Sports reports that Vanderbilt has officially named the replacement for Diego Pavia. The Tennessean confirms that Berlowitz was named the starter specifically for the 2026 opener, beating out competitor Jared Curtis.

On3 also confirms that Berlowitz is the named starting quarterback for the 2026 season. These reports collectively highlight the conclusion of the internal competition for the most critical position on the roster. Context provided by the coverage emphasizes the high stakes involving the depth chart, particularly regarding Jared Curtis. According to CBS Sports, while Berlowitz is the starter, the star freshman Curtis still maintains a path to potentially take over the position. ESPN adds further detail to this dynamic, noting that Curtis is a 5-star recruit who is still expected to play in the season opener despite not starting. This creates a competitive environment where a high-profile freshman remains a viable option for the coaching staff.

Observers will be monitoring the early performance of Berlowitz during the 2026 opener to see if he maintains the starting role. Based on reports from ESPN and CBS Sports, the primary point of interest will be the utilization of Jared Curtis during the game. Because Curtis is described as a star freshman with a path to take over, his contributions in the opener will be a key indicator of the team's future quarterback rotation. The transition from the previous era of Diego Pavia to the Berlowitz-led offense is now the central narrative.
