## Executive Summary
The Seattle Mariners have reinstated shortstop J.P. Crawford from the injured list, triggering a corresponding roster move involving Leo Rivas.

## Intelligence Brief
The Seattle Mariners have officially reinstated shortstop J.P. Crawford to the active roster following a long absence due to injury. According to reports from MLB.com and Lookout Landing, Crawford has been activated from the injured list. In a tactical adjustment for his return, MLB.com specifies that Crawford will be starting at third base for the team's game against the Phillies. This return marks a significant personnel shift for the Mariners as they integrate a key veteran back into their active lineup during the current season. Coverage of these roster changes has been widespread across major sports outlets.

The Seattle Times emphasized that Crawford is returning after a long injury absence, while Lookout Landing focused on his official reinstatement as a shortstop. Simultaneously, NBC Sports and CBS Sports reported on the necessary corresponding move to make room for Crawford on the active roster. Both outlets confirmed that the Mariners have optioned Leo Rivas back to the minor leagues, with NBC Sports explicitly stating that Rivas has been shipped back to Triple-A. This sequence of events highlights the volatility of roster management during a professional baseball season. The activation of Crawford requires the team to balance their depth, leading to the demotion of Rivas. The context provided by the reports suggests that Crawford's absence was prolonged, making his return a focal point for the organization.

By placing him at third base for the matchup against the Phillies, the team is implementing a specific positional strategy for his first game back from the injured list. Observers will now monitor Crawford's performance and defensive integration at third base as he transitions back into active play. The focus remains on whether this roster shuffle improves the team's output against opponents like the Phillies. Furthermore, the status of Leo Rivas in Triple-A will be a point of interest for those following the Mariners' depth chart. Current coverage does not specify the exact nature or duration of the injury that kept Crawford sidelined, but his activation is now the primary narrative for the team's current lineup.
