## Executive Summary
CNN has issued a formal apology to the family of Dolly Parton after using a photo of an impersonator during coverage of the icon's death.

## Intelligence Brief
CNN is facing backlash after it mistakenly aired a photograph of a Dolly Parton impersonator during a news story regarding the death of the country music legend. According to reports from The Independent and Yahoo, the network used the image of the impersonator within its tribute coverage. The error was quickly identified, leading CNN to issue a formal apology to the family of Dolly Parton. The network's mistake occurred during the production of its death story, which was intended to honor the legacy of the artist but instead featured a lookalike in a prominent role. Coverage of the incident has been extensive across multiple media outlets. News specifically highlights that the apology was directed toward Dolly Parton's family.

Newser and Yahoo have both detailed how the impersonator was featured in the tribute, noting that the woman in the photograph was not happy with the situation. The Independent has focused on the fact that the image appeared specifically within death coverage, emphasizing the nature of the error given the solemnity of the reporting on the icon's passing. This situation unfolds amidst a broader wave of public remembrance for Dolly Parton. While the media deals with the fallout of the CNN error, other figures in the country music world are also making headlines. According to Whiskey Riff, Allie Colleen, the daughter of Garth Brooks, has faced criticism and been slammed for a social media post intended to remember Dolly Parton. Critics have described the post made by Colleen as being self-centered, adding further tension to the public discourse surrounding the artist's death and how she is being honored by those in the industry.

Going forward, the focus remains on the response from the Parton family and the internal corrective measures at CNN. While the network has apologized, the coverage from Yahoo and Newser suggests a lingering dissatisfaction from the individual whose image was used. Observers will be watching for further statements from the family or the impersonator involved. Additionally, the reception of tributes from other high-profile figures, such as Allie Colleen, continues to be a point of contention in entertainment reporting as the public processes the loss of the musician.
