## Executive Summary
Justus Kelley makes history as the first married woman and mother to be crowned Miss USA 2026.

## Intelligence Brief
Justus Kelley, representing Miss Virginia, has been crowned as Miss USA 2026 during a ceremony held in Miami on Thursday. According to coverage from ABC7, KXAN Austin, and Business Insider, Kelley has achieved a historic milestone as she is the first mother and married woman to win the pageant. The win also marks the crowning of the pageant's 75th winner, as reported by USA Today. Kelley, who hails from Arlington, is an alumna of Cathedral High School and Indiana University, according to reporting from IndyStar and Northern Virginia Magazine. Extensive coverage of the event has been provided by a wide array of outlets including People.com, The Cut, CBS News, and DC News Now.

These reports emphasize the record-breaking nature of Kelley's victory, specifically highlighting that she is a mother in her 30s. In an exclusive report by Yahoo, it was revealed that Kelley utilized secondhand attire for the competition, including an outfit borrowed from a former Miss Georgia, stating that her pageant looks are consistently secondhand. Context provided by People.com notes that this victory stands in stark contrast to the pageant's historical regulations. The outlet reports that nearly 70 years ago, a woman was stripped of her title for being married or a mother before a rule change was implemented. This background underscores the shift in pageant standards that allowed Kelley to compete and eventually win the title as a married woman and parent, a transition from the restrictive policies of the past.

Moving forward, coverage from TODAY.com indicates a focus on Kelley's personal reactions to her historic win as the first married mom to hold the title. While the event in Miami has concluded, the broader narrative continues to center on the impact of her win and the specifics of her journey from Arlington to the national stage. Further details regarding her tenure as Miss USA 2026 are expected to emerge as she begins her official duties following the coronation.
