## Executive Summary
Ukrainian drone strikes have targeted a major oil refinery in Yaroslavl and a Tu-95MS bomber at the Engels airbase, impacting Russian fuel production.

## Intelligence Brief
Ukrainian forces conducted overnight strikes targeting critical Russian infrastructure, specifically focusing on energy and aviation assets. According to reports from Bloomberg and Ukrinform, drones targeted a major oil refinery located in the Yaroslavl region of the Russian Federation. The Moscow Times reports that this specific attack sparked a fire at the facility and resulted in one death. Simultaneously, Ukrainian forces struck the Engels airbase, a site used by Russia to launch attacks against Ukraine. Coverage from Українська правда and Мілітарний indicates that a Tu-95MS bomber was targeted during this operation, with Мілітарний noting that satellite images have since confirmed damage to the aircraft. Multiple international and regional outlets are monitoring the escalation.

Bloomberg reports that the ongoing campaign of drone strikes has pushed Russian oil refining capabilities to a twenty-year low. OilPrice.com emphasizes that the fire at the Yaroslavl refinery has occurred as a broader fuel crisis within Russia worsens. These reports highlight a strategic shift toward degrading Russia's industrial capacity. The coverage from the Moscow Times provides specific casualty details regarding the refinery strike, while the Ukrainian outlets focus on the successful targeting of the long-range bomber at the Engels base. The context for these attacks involves a tightening of Russia's domestic energy market. Bloomberg reports that Russia has extended its ban on diesel exports as Ukraine continues to ramp up attacks on refining infrastructure.

This move comes amid a period where refining output has reached its lowest point in two decades. The targeting of the Tu-95MS bomber is significant because the Engels airbase is specifically utilized by Russian forces to conduct aerial operations against Ukrainian territory, making the base a strategic point of vulnerability. Future developments depend on the operational status of the Yaroslavl refinery and the extent of the damage to the Tu-95MS bomber. Observers will be watching for further changes to Russian export policies, such as the diesel ban mentioned by Bloomberg, as the fuel crisis persists. Additionally, further satellite imagery may be used to assess the scale of destruction at the Engels airbase. Coverage does not yet specify the total number of drones used or the exact duration of the refinery fire, but the impact on refining levels remains a primary point of focus for economic analysts.
