## Executive Summary
Limited-edition Xbox 25th anniversary consoles are selling for thousands on eBay as scalpers target the sold-out hardware.

## Intelligence Brief
Microsoft has released a limited-edition green Series X console to commemorate 25 years of gaming history. The release is part of a broader 25th Anniversary Collection that focuses on turning hardware history transparent once again. Coverage from The Verge confirms that the green Series X is already sold out, highlighting the immediate lack of availability for general consumers. Meanwhile, reports from stupidDOPE emphasize the aesthetic and conceptual nature of the release, describing Xbox gear as a wearable archive and noting that the anniversary collection utilizes transparency to reference the company's hardware history.

This trend is driven by the intersection of nostalgia and collector demand. By framing the 25th Anniversary Collection as a historical archive of gaming, Microsoft has positioned the hardware as a collectible item rather than a standard consumer electronic device. The use of the color green and transparent design elements serves as a direct nod to previous iterations of Xbox hardware. This strategy has clearly resonated with a specific segment of the market, resulting in the rapid depletion of stock and the subsequent migration of the product to third-party auction sites where prices have escalated far beyond the original retail value.

Observers should monitor whether Microsoft will announce further stock drops or if the limited-edition green Series X will remain exclusively available through high-priced secondary markets. The coverage does not specify if additional variants of the 25th Anniversary Collection will be released or if the current sell-out is limited only to the console itself. Future updates will likely center on whether the company addresses the availability issues or introduces new items to the anniversary wearable archive.
