She described the role as a dream opportunity and noted that she remains bummed by the outcome. The actress specifically recalled the phone call she received informing her that her scenes would not appear in the film, describing the experience of that particular conversation as a fun phone call, despite the resulting disappointment. Multiple entertainment outlets have covered this revelation, including reports from The Hollywood Reporter, USA Today, and TheWrap. Coverage from Yahoo, Yahoo News UK, and A.V.

Club emphasizes Woodley's ongoing feelings of being bummed and devastated by the erasure of her character from the project. IMDb has also detailed the actress's explanations regarding the circumstances of her exit from the film. These reports collectively highlight the emotional impact of the decision on the actress, contrasting her personal description of the phone call with the overall loss of the role. Context provided by Popverse indicates that the decision to remove the character was based on the filmmakers' perspective on the narrative. According to this coverage, the creators felt it would be too weird for Andrew Garfield's version of Spider-Man to meet Mary Jane at that point in the story.

Moving forward, the coverage focuses on Woodley's reflections on this specific professional setback. There is no mention of future appearances in the franchise or legal disputes, only the actress's recollections of the events. Observers can monitor for further commentary from Woodley or the filmmakers regarding the specific creative logic that led to the determination that the meeting between Spider-Man and Mary Jane would have been too weird for the audience. The narrative remains centered on the retrospective account of the filming and the subsequent notification of the cuts.
