## Executive Summary
Apple CEO John Ternus is set to unveil the iPhone Ultra, a foldable device reportedly supporting the Apple Pencil and carrying a premium price tag.

## Intelligence Brief
A central component of this launch is the iPhone Ultra, a foldable device that MacRumors reports will include Apple Pencil support. The release is coinciding with the broader iPhone 18 cycle, although WIRED suggests there may not be a standard iPhone 18 this year. The iPhone Ultra is positioned as a high-end entry into the foldable market, with a form factor that 9to5Mac notes will be compared to other existing Apple products. Extensive coverage from outlets including the Financial Times, Yahoo Finance, and gsmarena.com emphasizes the significant cost of the new hardware. While gsmarena.com reports that Apple wanted the iPhone Ultra to cost $1,999, the Financial Times and Yahoo Finance explicitly discuss a potential $2,000 price point. Other financial reporting from CNET suggests that general iPhone costs could rise by 10-20% due to a memory price surge referred to as RAMageddon.

South China Morning Post further attributes the high cost of the most expensive iPhone yet to these surging memory prices. Contextually, this launch represents a pivotal moment for the company's leadership and market strategy. The Financial Times describes the sale of a $2,000 foldable iPhone as the first major test for CEO John Ternus. Market analysts are closely monitoring the potential financial impact, with Morgan Stanley estimating that the foldable iPhone could generate $14 billion in revenue during the December quarter. Additionally, PhoneArena indicates that the iPhone Ultra is expected to help the foldable smartphone market reach a major milestone this year, providing direct competition to devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 mentioned by CNET. Future developments center on the official keynote and subsequent product availability.

According to PhoneArena, the iPhone Ultra will feature a staggered launch, the reasons for which the outlet describes as making sense despite being disappointing to some consumers. Further technical details remain a point of interest, with Tom's Guide highlighting reports on how Apple is erasing the screen crease. Additionally, Macworld reports that sources expect the iPhone Ultra's color options to exclude black. Investors and consumers are now awaiting the live keynote to confirm these specifications and the final retail pricing.
