> **Open Intelligence Dossier** · First detected: 2026-08-31 21:07 UTC · Category: Entertainment

## Executive Summary
Miley Cyrus drops her surname, unveils a new album and Hollywood Bowl dates, sparking family reactions and fan buzz.

## Intelligence Brief
Miley Cyrus announced that she is dropping the Cyrus surname, presenting herself simply as Miley. The story quickly spread across entertainment outlets. Yahoo covered the mononymous branding and Morando outing; USA Today and Variety emphasized the album launch and the decision to discard the last name.

Entertainment Weekly and The Daily Beast reported Billy Ray Cyrus’s reactions, while Page Six noted his comments about a healing family rift. The name change arrives amid previously reported family tension. Earlier coverage described a “family drama” and a rift that Billy Ray Cyrus referenced as now healing, prompting his public defense of Miley’s choice in Variety and Entertainment Weekly.

The shift marks a departure from the “Miley Cyrus” brand that has identified her since childhood, and it follows a multi‑month break from live performance that concluded with the new album announcement. The full tracklist is already public, and additional statements from Billy Ray Cyrus or other family members may appear as the mononymous era unfolds. Fan and media response to the rebranding will likely shape further coverage in the coming weeks.
