## Executive Summary
A massive 12TB data breach at Valve has exposed a decade of Steam game files, including prototypes for major third-party titles.

## Intelligence Brief
Valve has suffered a substantial data breach resulting in the leak of 12TB of game data from the Steam platform. According to reports from CNET and Mashable, the exposed information spans a decade of Steam game files. The scale of the leak is significant, with Cybernews specifically noting that 12TB of data has been exposed. This breach involves a vast repository of files associated with the digital distribution service and the company's internal operations over a ten-year period. Coverage from PC Gamer emphasizes that the scope of the so-called 'teraleak' extends well beyond games developed internally by Valve.

The outlet reports that the breach includes prototypes of third-party titles, specifically naming Mafia 2 and Grand Theft Auto 3. PC Gamer describes the event by stating that this may be one of, if not the biggest, leaks to ever occur in the industry. This indicates that the breach is not limited to a single developer but affects multiple external partners who have utilized the Steam platform. To understand the gravity of the situation, readers must recognize that Steam is one of the largest game distribution networks globally. The inclusion of prototypes for titles such as Grand Theft Auto 3 and Mafia 2 suggests that the leaked data contains early versions of games that may have remained confidential for years.

The timeframe of the leak, covering a decade of files, suggests a deep penetration of Valve's archival or active game data systems, impacting both legacy and more recent content stored on their servers. Moving forward, the focus remains on the full extent of the compromised third-party data. While CNET, Cybernews, and Mashable have confirmed the 12TB volume and the ten-year timeframe, further details regarding which other specific titles were affected have not yet been fully enumerated. The industry is watching to see if more prototypes or internal documents from other third-party developers will emerge from the 12TB of leaked information as the data is analyzed by the public.
