## Executive Summary
Sonos launches a sweeping hardware and software overhaul, including the Beam Ultra and new wireless headphones, following two years of company turmoil.

## Intelligence Brief
Sonos has executed a major product launch in September 2026, introducing a series of new devices and infrastructure updates. The company has unveiled the Sonos Beam Ultra, a soundbar priced at $699 that features a Dolby Atmos upgrade. Alongside this hardware, the company is introducing wireless headphones that utilize Wi-Fi technology. This launch event, referred to as the Sonos Open House, also includes the release of a new operating system and a new app to manage the ecosystem. Coverage of the event is widespread across major technology outlets.

Engadget has provided live updates from the launch proceedings, while WIRED focuses on the trifecta of new devices, the new OS, and the redesigned app. CNET highlights the specific technical improvements of the Beam Ultra, specifically its Dolby Atmos capabilities and price point. Gizmodo's reporting emphasizes the specific connectivity choices for the new wireless headphones, noting their lean toward Wi-Fi integration. This product cycle arrives after a period described by The Verge as two years of turmoil for the company. The launch represents an attempt at a triumphant return for the brand.

The simultaneous release of a new operating system and a new app suggests a comprehensive effort to stabilize the user experience and update the foundational software that governs how Sonos devices interact with one another and the user. Future developments to monitor include the market reception of the $699 Beam Ultra and the performance of the new OS and app. Industry observers will be watching to see if the shift toward Wi-Fi in wireless headphones provides a competitive advantage. Because the company has overhauled both its hardware and software simultaneously, the stability of the new app will be a critical factor in determining if this return is successful.
