Coverage details various roster adjustments and player integrations, focusing heavily on the offensive front and specific positional roles on the team. Outlets including the OU Daily, 247Sports, On3, Sooners Wire, and Sports Illustrated have provided updates regarding team formations, player conditions, and strategic preparations leading into the first game of the schedule. Specific reports from outlets like 247Sports and On3 emphasize the adaptation of Ryan Fodje to a new role at the center position, alongside the development of on-field chemistry with John Mateer.

Meanwhile, the OU Daily notes observations from Arbuckle regarding the strong relationship forming between Mateer and Fodje ahead of competitive play.
