## Executive Summary
Zheng Qinwen secures a place in the US Open quarter-finals after two stunning come-from-behind victories against Madison Keys and Iga Świątek.

## Intelligence Brief
Zheng Qinwen has advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2026 US Open following a series of high-stakes victories. In the third round, Zheng defeated Madison Keys after facing a match point, a result that propelled her into the fourth round. More recently, on September 7, Zheng reached the quarter-finals by defeating Iga Świątek in straight sets. This second victory was marked by a significant rally, as Zheng overcame a 5-0 deficit to win the match. These performances have established Zheng as a formidable competitor in the current tournament bracket. Major news organizations have focused heavily on the dramatic nature of Zheng's rallies.

The New York Times and WTA Tennis both highlighted the rarity of Zheng recording two consecutive 5-0 comebacks, while the BBC and ESPN characterized the win over Świątek as a shock. Earlier coverage from Reuters described the third-round match against Madison Keys as a thriller, while the Orange County Register and AP News focused on the spectacular nature of the rally that led to Keys' exit. The Guardian provided broader tournament context, noting that Zheng's ascent occurred alongside the advancement of other players like Gauff and Andreeva. Context for these matches includes a series of upsets among seeded players in the third round. Yahoo Sports and USA Today report that both No. 10 Amanda Anisimova and No. 22 Madison Keys suffered upset defeats; Anisimova was ousted by Potapova. The Guardian also noted that other players, including Fritz and Cobolli, tumbled out of the competition.

Regarding the match against Zheng, Madison Keys stated she felt scared and felt as though she could not swing. Additionally, Yahoo Sports reported that a veteran tennis reporter expressed concern over Keys' behavior following her loss. Upcoming events at the US Open include a match between Osaka and Rybakina, as reported by The Guardian. Coverage from US Open Tennis previously provided predictions for the Świątek and Zheng matchup before the result was determined. Observers will now track Zheng's progress in the quarter-finals following her momentum from the consecutive rallies. Further updates are expected as the tournament progresses through the final stages for the remaining women's and men's competitors.
