The Cougars, currently ranked No. 14, achieved what coverage describes as a blowout win, steamrolling the Trailblazers to start their campaign. The game resulted in a significant scoring margin, with BYU managing 63 points while limiting Utah Tech to only 7. According to reporting from ESPN and CBS Sports, the match served as a comprehensive display of BYU's capabilities at the start of the new football season. Media outlets including Deseret News, KSL Sports, and Yahoo Sports have emphasized the nature of the victory, noting that BYU was mostly clean in its execution and clicked in all three phases of the game. The coverage highlights that the Cougars did exactly what was required against an overmatched Utah Tech squad.

Deseret News provided specific analysis of the performance and reported on post-game comments made by Utah Tech coach Lance Anderson regarding the loss.
