## Executive Summary
Amazon and Walmart are competing with aggressive price cuts on AI-enabled 2-in-1 laptop and tablet hybrids.

## Intelligence Brief
Amazon is currently offering a 2-in-1 device that functions as both a laptop and a tablet, which is available at a 42% discount. According to reports from thestreet.com, this specific AI-enabled device is being sold for $71 and includes theft protection features. Other listings tracked by Yahoo Tech indicate various pricing options for Amazon's 2-in-1 offerings, including one model priced at $100 and another available for $88 that comes bundled with a 7-piece accessories kit. A third Amazon listing mentioned by Yahoo Tech is priced at $117 and boasts storage capacity for 300 HD movies and 50,000 pictures. Coverage of these discounts is being led by Yahoo Tech, thestreet.com, AOL.com, and Currently.com.

The reporting emphasizes a broader trend of deep discounting across major retailers. While Amazon focuses on AI features and accessory bundles, coverage from Currently.com and AOL.com highlights similar aggressive pricing at Walmart. Specifically, AOL.com reports that Walmart is selling a 2-in-1 tablet and laptop for $85, while Currently.com notes an even lower price point of $75 for a similar hybrid device at the same retailer. This surge in low-cost hardware options is contextualized by a wider sale event at Walmart as reported by Yahoo Tech, which notes that the retailer is selling an Android tablet originally priced at $400 for 73% off. The competition between Amazon and Walmart appears centered on hybrid devices that bridge the gap between mobile tablets and traditional laptops, with the addition of built-in artificial intelligence acting as a primary selling point for the Amazon units mentioned by thestreet.com.

Future developments to monitor include whether these price points represent permanent shifts in the budget hardware market or temporary promotional events. Based on the current coverage, the specific types of AI features integrated into the $71 Amazon model remain unspecified. Observers will be looking for further details on the specifications of the 7-piece accessories kit included with the $88 Amazon model and whether Walmart will introduce similar AI-enabled hybrids to match the current Amazon offerings.
