## Executive Summary
Emergency teams are searching for survivors after a multi-storey building collapse in New Delhi has left at least six people dead and dozens feared trapped.

## Intelligence Brief
Initial reports from AP News and Bloomberg indicated one death at the start of the incident, but subsequent updates from Al Jazeera, The Hill, and U.S. News & World Report confirm that the death toll has risen to at least six. The structure has been identified as a boys' Paying Guest (PG) building situated near the Delhi University campus in the Satya Niketan area. According to Reuters and The Hindu, rescue operations are ongoing, with at least six individuals having been successfully rescued from the debris so far. Major international and domestic news outlets are providing extensive coverage of the disaster. Al Jazeera, Yahoo, and BBC report that rescue teams are still searching for survivors.

NDTV and The Times of India have focused on the structural failures of the building, highlighting its age and condition. Specifically, coverage from Hindustan Times includes a report on a student who was trapped under the debris and sent an SOS video to a friend. These outlets emphasize the desperation of those trapped and the scale of the search effort required to locate missing persons in the ruins of the six-storey structure. Contextual reports suggest systemic failures contributed to the disaster. The Times of India describes the building as being 40 years old and mentions a waterlogged basement and "illegal" work conducted on the site. NDTV reports that the building was actually 50 years old and described it as "dying," alleging that greed led to the revival of the structure.

Because the building served as a student PG near a university campus, People.com reports that at least six of those killed were students. This has sparked immediate public anger, with Hindustan Times reporting that members of the ABVP have protested and vandalised a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) office in response to the incident. Future developments will likely center on the final casualty count as rescuers continue to sift through the rubble for the dozens still feared trapped. Attention will also be directed toward the legal and administrative fallout involving the MCD, given the protests and allegations of illegal construction mentioned in the coverage. Coverage does not yet specify if any official arrests have been made, but reports from The Times of India and NDTV indicate that the structural integrity and the legality of the modifications to the aging building remain primary points of investigation for authorities.
