The release of Orbitals on the Switch 2 is generating significant critical momentum, highlighted by new Famitsu review scores.

## Intelligence Brief
The gaming industry is currently focusing on the release of Orbitals, a title that has recently received review scores from Famitsu as of September 5, 2026. According to coverage from Nintendo Everything, these scores are now available for public viewing. Orbitals is described by Nintendo as an out-of-this-world adventure that allows players to blast off into space. The game is specifically positioned as a co-op experience, with CNET identifying it as the perfect couples co-op game designed for the Switch 2 hardware platform. Critical reception emphasized in the coverage suggests a high standard of quality.

IMDb characterizes Orbitals as the best platformer since Astro Bot and the best co-op game since It Takes Two. This positioning places the title alongside previous industry benchmarks for both its genre and its multiplayer functionality. While IMDb focuses on the gameplay experience, GameDev.net has shifted the analytical focus toward the technical side of the production, specifically examining the rendering techniques used to create the game's retro anime-inspired visual style. The context of this trend is rooted in the technical capabilities of the Switch 2, which serves as the primary platform mentioned by CNET. The emphasis on a retro anime aesthetic, as noted by GameDev.net, indicates a specific artistic direction intended to evoke a particular era of animation through modern rendering.

This combination of a specialized visual style and a focus on cooperative play is what has drawn attention from diverse outlets ranging from technical sites like GameDev.net to mainstream tech reviewers at CNET and entertainment databases like IMDb. Future attention will likely remain on the detailed breakdown of the Famitsu scores mentioned by Nintendo Everything. Because the coverage highlights Orbitals as a significant entry for the Switch 2, the industry will be watching how this specific co-op and platforming title performs against the benchmarks of Astro Bot and It Takes Two. Further technical analysis of the anime-inspired rendering process may continue as developers and critics evaluate the visual fidelity of the game on the new hardware.
