## Executive Summary
Google is updating the Gemini overlay on Android to include bubble minimization and enhanced multitasking capabilities for users.

## Intelligence Brief
Google is currently rolling out a new design update for the Gemini overlay on Android devices. According to reporting from 9to5Google and Sammy Fans, this update introduces a minimize button and bubble minimization functionality. This allows the AI interface to exist as a smaller element on the screen rather than a full overlay. This change enables users to multitask more effectively, as highlighted by a guide from PhoneArena which explains how to utilize these multitasking features within the Android ecosystem. Several technology outlets are tracking the deployment of these features. 9to5Google and Sammy Fans specifically identify the rollout of the minimize button to users.

Meanwhile, Android Authority notes that this particular design update appears to take a page from the book of ChatGPT. The shift toward a more flexible, floating interface suggests a move away from static overlays toward a more dynamic user experience that integrates the AI more deeply into the general Android OS workflow. Contextually, this update is part of a broader trend in AI tool evolution. TestingCatalog AI News reports that Google continues to transform the Gemini desktop experience into a superapp, suggesting that the mobile updates are aligned with a larger strategy to expand Gemini's utility across different platforms. By allowing the AI to be minimized into a bubble, Google is reducing the friction associated with switching between the AI assistant and other active applications on a mobile device.

Moving forward, observers are watching the full rollout of the minimize button to the wider user base. Based on the coverage, the primary focus remains on how these multitasking capabilities will change user interaction patterns on Android. While the current updates focus on bubble minimization and overlay flexibility, the overall trajectory described by TestingCatalog AI News suggests a continued expansion of Gemini's capabilities as it evolves toward a superapp model.
