## Executive Summary
The New England Patriots face a depth crisis at running back as TreVeyon Henderson's ankle injury threatens his availability for the Week 1 opener.

## Intelligence Brief
The New England Patriots are managing a significant injury to running back TreVeyon Henderson as the team prepares for their Week 1 game against the Seattle Seahawks. According to reports from NBC Sports and NFL.com, Henderson suffered an ankle injury that resulted in him being officially listed as a Did Not Participate (DNP) on the Sunday injury report. This absence occurred three days before the scheduled season opener. The team's official injury report, as confirmed by the New England Patriots and 98.5 The Sports Hub, listed Henderson as one of three players on the first injury report of the 2026 season, with multiple reports from sports.yahoo.com confirming he was among the non-participants during that session. Extensive coverage from various sports outlets highlights the precarious nature of Henderson's status. RotoBaller explicitly stated it is "hard to imagine" that the running back will play in Week 1, while USA Today noted he is in genuine danger of missing the contest.

The Boston Globe has emphasized that this situation could immediately test the running back depth of the New England Patriots. Further updates regarding key players were provided by head coach Mike Vrabel, as reported by the Boston Herald. Meanwhile, Patriots Wire has indicated that concern is rising among observers following the latest updates regarding Henderson's inability to practice. This development is critical because it leaves a void in the Patriots' offensive backfield just as the 2026 season begins. Yahoo Sports reports that a Patriots insider is looking for answers and has hinted at the possibility of a roster move to address the vacancy left by Henderson's ankle injury. The timing of the injury, occurring so close to the game against the Seahawks, limits the team's ability to adjust their primary game plan.

The reports from draftsharks.com and CBS Sports reinforce that Henderson's continued absence from practice makes his participation in the opener highly doubtful. Looking ahead, the team's next steps will involve finalizing the active roster for the Seahawks game. Observers will be watching for any official roster moves hinted at by insiders via Yahoo Sports. Additionally, further updates from Mike Vrabel will be necessary to determine if Henderson can return to practice before the game. While NBC Sports mentioned that Roger Goodell has finalized a four-year extension, that league-wide news remains separate from the immediate tactical concerns regarding the Patriots' backfield depth and Henderson's recovery timeline.
