## Executive Summary
Ed Sheeran faces pressure to remove Macklemore from his tour following the rapper's onstage 'Free Palestine' chants.

## Intelligence Brief
Ed Sheeran is facing public pressure to remove the rapper Macklemore from his current tour following a series of onstage actions. According to reports from The Times, Billboard, and the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, the controversy stems from Macklemore making 'Free Palestine' pleas and chants while performing during the tour. These public statements have led to a direct push for the singer to sever ties with the rapper as a supporting act. The situation has escalated into a formal demand for removal based on the political nature of the rapper's onstage commentary. Coverage from the Jewish Telegraphic Agency specifically identifies the Israel-American Council as a primary driver of this movement.

The Council has urged Ed Sheeran to toss Macklemore from the tour after the rapper criticized Israel during his set. Parallel to these organizational demands, Billboard reports that a petition has been launched, calling for Macklemore to leave the tour entirely. This indicates a coordinated effort between organized advocacy groups and a broader segment of the public to influence Sheeran's tour roster based on the rapper's political expressions. In response to the growing backlash, Macklemore has addressed the nature of his statements. As reported by Variety, the rapper has asserted that saying 'Free Palestine' is not a 'criticism' of Jewish people.

This distinction is central to the current conflict, as the rapper attempts to decouple his political stance on Palestine from targeted criticism of any specific ethnic or religious group. The tension highlights the ongoing friction between artistic expression of political solidarity and the concerns of organizations like the Israel-American Council regarding the framing of such messages in a public venue. Future developments will likely center on whether Ed Sheeran responds to the petition and the demands made by the Israel-American Council. While the coverage details the pressure being applied to the tour organizer and the rapper's defense of his words, it does not yet specify if Sheeran has made a decision regarding Macklemore's continued presence on the tour. Observers are monitoring whether the petition gains further momentum and how the Israel-American Council continues to engage with the tour management in the coming days.
