## Executive Summary
Israel Katz orders the military to prepare for a total war against the Palestinian Authority.

## Intelligence Brief
Recent reporting indicates that Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has threatened the Palestinian Authority with a total, full-scale, or all-out war. According to coverage from outlets including The National News, Plataforma Media, Israel National News, Al Jazeera, and The Jerusalem Post, the Israeli military has been specifically instructed to prepare for fighting directly against Palestinian Authority officials. These directives and threats emerge following a reported stabbing incident involving a settler in the West Bank. Coverage specifies that the unfolding situation centers heavily around an alleged West Bank terror threat and specific official concerns regarding a potential October 7-style attack. The participating news organizations emphasize the direct escalation in rhetoric from senior defense leadership toward the Palestinian governing body.

Al Jazeera and The Jerusalem Post foreground the immediate context of a settler being stabbed in the region. Meanwhile, platforms like Israel National News and Plataforma Media focus on the specific operational directives given to the Israel Defense Forces to ready themselves for hostile engagements with Palestinian Authority personnel. The National News similarly highlights the formal ordering of military preparations directed at the Palestinian Authority as a primary development in the ongoing sequence. This emerging situation follows a well-established history of acute tension across the West Bank, though the current coverage does not explicitly detail broader historical preconditions beyond the immediate catalyst of the settler stabbing incident. The specific framing across the reporting ties the current military readiness directly to fears of an October 7-style attack originating from or facilitated within the territory.

Coverage does not yet specify the exact operational scope, timing, or definitive strategic milestones of the ordered military preparations beyond the broad directive to prepare for comprehensive conflict against Palestinian Authority officials. Future developments to watch, based strictly on the provided coverage, include any further official statements from Israel Katz or other defense officials regarding the military directives. Observers will also track potential responses from the Palestinian Authority regarding the threat of total war and the reported instruction for the Israel Defense Forces to prepare for fighting. Additionally, coverage suggests monitoring any updates concerning the investigation or aftermath of the West Bank settler stabbing incident that immediately preceded these announcements.
