## Executive Summary
PlayStation architect Mark Cerny and Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley have launched the Nova Games Foundation to fund emerging game designers.

## Intelligence Brief
Mark Cerny, the architect for PlayStation, and Geoff Keighley, the creator and host of The Game Awards, have officially launched a new initiative called the Nova Games Foundation. According to reports from Insider Gaming and IGN, this foundation is designed to support and invest in the future of the gaming industry by focusing on the next generation of game developers. The partnership brings together two of the most prominent figures in the hardware and event sectors of the medium to establish a structured system of financial support for young creators entering the field. Coverage from Kotaku highlights the specific financial commitments of the program, stating that Cerny and Keighley will provide a total of $2 million each year to young game designers. IGN Nordic further specifies that this investment will be delivered through a fellowship program.

Multiple outlets, including Game File by Stephen Totilo, have characterized this move as a significant investment in the future of the industry, emphasizing the scale of the funding and the prestige of the individuals leading the foundation. The timing of this launch is linked to Mark Cerny's personal career trajectory. Reports from IGN and IGN Nordic indicate that Cerny views himself as nearing the end of his career. Because he is approaching this transition, he has expressed a desire to pay it forward to the next generation of developers. This context positions the Nova Games Foundation not just as a business venture, but as a legacy project intended to ensure that new talent has the resources necessary to innovate within the gaming space.

Future developments to monitor include the specific criteria for the fellowship program and the process by which young designers will be selected to receive the annual $2 million in funding. While the foundation has been launched, the coverage does not yet specify the application timeline or the specific requirements for eligibility. Observers will likely look for further details on how the Nova Games Foundation intends to distribute these funds across the global developer community.
