## Executive Summary
The Green Bay Packers have officially announced their five team captains for the 2026 season just before the start of Week 1.

## Intelligence Brief
The Green Bay Packers have formally announced the selection of five team captains for the 2026 season. This announcement comes as the organization prepares for the start of Week 1. According to official reports from the Green Bay Packers and other outlets, five individuals have been elected to serve in these leadership roles for the duration of the upcoming campaign. The selection process resulted in a combination of returning veterans and a new addition to the leadership group for the current year. Coverage of the announcement was widespread across several sports media outlets, including Packers Wire, Yahoo Sports, and NBC Sports.

These reports, along with information from the Acme Packing Company, emphasize the specific composition of the captaincy. NBC Sports highlighted a key detail regarding the team's leadership structure, noting that Zaire Franklin has been named a captain. Franklin is identified as a newcomer to the role, marking a change in the leadership dynamic for the 2026 roster compared to previous years. To understand the context of these appointments, the coverage points to the stability of the existing leadership core. While Zaire Franklin is a new addition to the captains list, the remaining four captains are repeat selections from the 2025 season.

This indicates that the team has maintained a significant portion of its veteran leadership from the prior year while integrating Franklin into the group. The timing of the announcement, occurring immediately ahead of the Week 1 kickoff, underscores the importance of establishing a clear command structure before the season begins. Moving forward, the focus will remain on how this group of five captains leads the team throughout the 2026 season. Because the announcement was made just before the first game, observers will be watching the interplay between the four returning captains from 2025 and the newly appointed Zaire Franklin. The coverage does not specify the exact names of the four repeat captains, but it confirms that the leadership group is now fully set as the team enters the competitive phase of the year.
