## Executive Summary
Comedy icon Chris Rock discusses his directorial debut with 'Misty Green' and sets a strict condition for his potential return to the Oscars.

## Intelligence Brief
Chris Rock has recently shared updates regarding his professional trajectory, specifically focusing on his work as a director for the project titled 'Misty Green'. In addition to discussing this new creative endeavor, the comedy icon has addressed the possibility of his return to the Academy Awards. According to reporting from Variety, Rock has stated that he will not return to the Oscars unless he is nominated for an award. This stance comes as he reflects on his current standing in the entertainment industry and his shift toward directing. Coverage of these revelations has been widespread across multiple entertainment and news outlets.

Variety emphasizes both the directing of 'Misty Green' and the conditions for his Oscar return, while The Daily Beast explicitly focuses on the only way Rock will ever return to the ceremony. Entertainment Weekly and Yahoo have highlighted his perspective on the incident involving Will Smith, and The Express Tribune reports that Rock is opening up about both his film project and his potential return to the awards stage. These outlets collectively frame the narrative as a new chapter for the comedian. To understand the significance of these statements, the coverage references the high-profile slap involving Will Smith. This event serves as the primary context for why Rock's return to the Oscars is a point of public interest.

By linking his return specifically to a nomination, Rock is addressing the aftermath of that encounter and establishing a new boundary for his participation in the event. The transition into directing with 'Misty Green' further indicates a diversification of his artistic output beyond stand-up comedy and acting. Future developments to monitor include any official announcements regarding the release or production status of 'Misty Green'. Additionally, the industry will be watching to see if Rock receives a nomination that would trigger his stated condition for returning to the Academy Awards. Because he has tied his presence at the event to professional recognition, any future nomination will serve as the definitive catalyst for his reappearance at the ceremony, as established in the reporting from Variety and other outlets.
