## Executive Summary
Alan Ritchson's latest action thriller 'Runner' has become his highest-rated film of 2026 on Rotten Tomatoes.

## Intelligence Brief
The action thriller 'Runner,' starring Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson, has officially launched with a reception that makes it the highest-rated movie released by Ritchson in 2026 according to data from Rotten Tomatoes. The film is categorized as an action thriller involving running, though critics describe its quality in varying terms. While the movie has achieved a specific ranking on the Rotten Tomatoes platform, reports indicate that it still loses to 'Reacher' in overall standing. The production is being framed as a genre piece that focuses on high-stakes movement and action sequences. Coverage of the film's release is being led by several major entertainment and news outlets. Variety reports that Ritchson and Owen Wilson provide personality to a production they describe as a good-enough action thriller.

The Guardian offers a different perspective, labeling the film as serviceable B-movie camp in its review. Meanwhile, AV Club places the movie within the context of running-based thrillers, specifically referring to it as a Z-grade thriller. These outlets collectively emphasize the performance of the lead actors despite varying opinions on the film's technical or narrative quality. This trend is significant because it continues a specific Rotten Tomatoes trajectory for Alan Ritchson throughout the year 2026. The actor's presence in the action genre has become a point of analysis for critics and platforms tracking movie ratings. The comparison to 'Reacher' suggests that Ritchson has established a benchmark for success in the action space that new projects are measured against.

The film's positioning as either a 'B-movie' or 'Z-grade' thriller indicates a focus on genre-specific appeal rather than prestige cinema, highlighting a market for campy action content. Future developments to watch include how 'Runner' performs relative to Ritchson's other 2026 projects as more reviews are aggregated. Because MovieWeb has already identified it as his highest-rated film of the year, any subsequent releases will be compared to this current Rotten Tomatoes score. Observers will likely monitor whether the 'serviceable' nature of the film translates into commercial success or if the 'B-movie camp' label attracts a specific cult audience. For now, the primary focus remains on the film's standing among Ritchson's recent cinematic output.
