> **Open Intelligence Dossier** · First detected: 2026-09-09 21:07 UTC · Category: Technology

## Executive Summary
Apple has officially expanded its hardware ecosystem with the introduction of the iPhone 18 series and the company's first foldable device.

## Intelligence Brief
The primary focus of the presentation was the launch of the iPhone 18 lineup, which includes the high-end iPhone 18 Pro model. In a significant shift for the company's product strategy, Apple also announced the iPhone Duo, marking the arrival of its first foldable phone. Beyond the smartphones, the company introduced new Apple Watches as part of the event's broader hardware refresh for the 2026 cycle. Coverage of these announcements has been highlighted by SFGATE and Yahoo Finance.

SFGATE specifically emphasized the historical nature of the product launch, noting that the iPhone Duo represents the first foldable phone released by Apple. Yahoo Finance focused on the live nature of the event and the breadth of the product reveals, listing the iPhone 18 Pro and the new watch models alongside the foldable device. This event is significant because it signals Apple's entry into the foldable smartphone market, a category that has previously been devoid of the company's participation. The introduction of the iPhone Duo alongside the standard iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18 Pro suggests a diversification of the company's mobile offerings.

By expanding the lineup to include a foldable option, Apple is altering its long-standing design approach to the iPhone, moving beyond the traditional slab form factor used in previous iterations of the device. Future attention will likely focus on the specific availability and pricing of the iPhone Duo, the iPhone 18 Pro, and the new watches, although coverage does not yet specify these details. Observers will be monitoring how the market reacts to the first foldable device from the company. The industry will also be looking for further technical specifications regarding the iPhone 18 lineup and the accompanying wearable technology as more information becomes available following the live event announcements.
