## Executive Summary
The Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 13-10 in a Super Bowl rematch marred by three fourth-quarter interceptions from Drake Maye.

## Intelligence Brief
The Seattle Seahawks secured a 13-10 victory over the New England Patriots in a Week 1 NFL kickoff game that served as a rematch of the Super Bowl. According to reports from AP News and Yahoo Sports, the game was decided in the fourth quarter when Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was intercepted three times. While the Seahawks emerged victorious, CBS Sports reports that Sam Darnold sustained an injury during the contest. The Seattle Seahawks organization highlighted the performance of Drew Lock, stating he did a phenomenal job leading the offense to the win, while NBC Sports featured Ernest Jones emphasizing the importance of the Seattle defense. Coverage from major outlets reflects a stark contrast in team trajectories. The New York Times notes that while the Seahawks are proving they are built for the difficulty of repeating as champions, Drake Maye's performance represented a giant step backwards as he lost patience on the field.

The Boston Globe described the Patriots' loss as ugly due to how quickly the game fell apart, though Boston.com identified three silver linings from the crushing defeat. Meanwhile, Yahoo Sports and Fox News report that NFL fans have slammed Maye on social media, with some suggesting he was crowned too quickly and is finally being exposed after a horrific game. Prior to the game, significant betting and preview coverage focused on the Super Bowl rematch. ESPN suggested the edge belonged to the champions, and Fox News analyzed the betting line, arguing that the under 44.5 was the optimal play for the kickoff game. Other coverage from Pats Pulpit and the New England Patriots' own expert predictions focused on X-factors and whether the Patriots could secure revenge. The event also saw heavy promotion of betting platforms, with Yahoo Sports and CBS Sports highlighting promo codes for FanDuel and Kalshi to attract traders and bettors for the season opener.

Looking forward, the focus will likely remain on the health of the Seahawks' roster following the injury to Sam Darnold and the stability of the Patriots' quarterback position. The coverage from the New York Times and Fox News suggests a troubling trend for Drake Maye that the New England coaching staff will need to address. Additionally, as the Seahawks attempt to repeat as champions, the narrative will center on their defensive identity, as emphasized by Ernest Jones. The league will monitor if the Patriots can recover from a season-opener that The Boston Globe characterized as a rapid collapse.
