## Executive Summary
The Dallas Cowboys are restructuring their offensive line following Tyler Smith's move to injured reserve and the signing of Laken Tomlinson.

## Intelligence Brief
The Dallas Cowboys have officially placed Tyler Smith on injured reserve, according to a news roundup from NFL.com. This roster move follows a surgical procedure for Smith, though Sports Illustrated reports that the injury update regarding his recovery is considered 'great' for the organization. In a simultaneous move to bolster their depth, the Cowboys have signed guard Laken Tomlinson to their practice squad, as reported by ProFootballRumors.com. Coverage of these events is being led by NFL.com and Sports Illustrated, with specific transaction details provided by ProFootballRumors.com. While NFL.com focuses on the broader news roundup involving multiple players, Sports Illustrated emphasizes the positive nature of Smith's postoperative status.

ProFootballRumors.com specifically highlights the acquisition of Tomlinson, who joins the practice squad to provide immediate coverage for the gaps left by Smith's injury. The reports collectively paint a picture of a team reacting quickly to medical setbacks with targeted free agency additions. Additional context provided by Yahoo Sports notes that a former first-round pick from the Detroit Lions has signed with a top NFC contender in free agency, though the outlet does not explicitly name the player in the headline. This move aligns with the general trend of top contenders adjusting their rosters through free agency to maintain competitiveness. The situation with the Cowboys is particularly significant because it involves the balance between long-term recovery for a starting player like Smith and the short-term necessity of integrating experienced players like Tomlinson into the system.

Looking forward, attention remains on the progress of Ashton Jeanty, who is slated to practice according to NFL.com. The Cowboys will likely monitor the effectiveness of Laken Tomlinson on the practice squad as they navigate Smith's time on injured reserve. Further updates regarding the timeline for Smith's return will be critical, as the team relies on the 'great' outlook provided in recent medical updates. The league will also be watching how the former Lions first-round pick integrates into their new NFC contender environment following the free agency signing reported by Yahoo Sports.
