## Executive Summary
Samsung is phasing out software support for the Galaxy Watch 4 series and several legacy mobile devices, signaling a mandatory upgrade cycle for users.

## Intelligence Brief
Samsung has initiated the end of software support for a variety of its hardware, most notably the Galaxy Watch 4 series. According to reports from Android Authority and androidheadlines.com, the company is quietly ending support for the specific generation of Galaxy Watches credited with saving the Wear OS ecosystem. This transition marks the conclusion of the software lifecycle for these wearables. Simultaneously, the company is addressing the lifecycle of its mobile hardware, as Android Central reports that several popular Samsung phones have recently received their final software updates, effectively ending their official support period. Coverage from a range of technology outlets emphasizes the breadth of these terminations. PhoneArena specifically highlights that the update lifecycle for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has come to an end, prompting questions regarding the necessity of hardware upgrades.

Samsung magazín confirms that the company is ending software support across both its watch and phone categories. Additionally, Droid Life provides specific details on the Galaxy Z Fold 4, noting that this device has transitioned to a quarterly update schedule as it enters its final year of supported service. This shift is significant because it affects devices that played pivotal roles in Samsung's ecosystem strategy. Android Authority notes the Galaxy Watch 4 series was instrumental in the success of Wear OS, making its current end-of-life status a symbolic conclusion of an era. The movement toward quarterly updates for the Z Fold 4 and the total cessation of updates for the Z Fold 3 illustrates a structured wind-down of support for older foldable technology. This creates a situation where users of these specific legacy models no longer have access to new feature sets or official software refinements.

Looking forward, the focus remains on which specific models will be the next to move to limited update schedules or full termination. While the Galaxy Watch 4 and Z Fold 3 have reached their limits, the transition of the Z Fold 4 to quarterly updates suggests a predictable pattern for the remaining supported devices. Users are now faced with the decision of whether to upgrade their hardware as the official software lifecycles for these popular devices conclude. Coverage does not yet specify the exact dates for the final security patches for all affected models.
