## Executive Summary
Houthi rebels report rising casualties following a Saudi-backed airstrike on a Yemen prison amid intensifying battles in the Bab el-Mandeb strait.

## Intelligence Brief
Houthi rebels in Yemen have reported a deadly airstrike conducted by Saudi-backed forces targeting a prison facility within Yemen. Initial reports indicated that seven individuals were killed in the attack, but the reported death toll has since risen. According to the latest figures provided by the Houthi rebels and reported by AP News, the number of fatalities has climbed to 23 people, with an additional seven individuals currently listed as missing. These events are occurring against a backdrop of intensifying military engagements in the Bab el-Mandeb region. Multiple international and regional news outlets are tracking the escalation.

Al Jazeera and The Times of Israel both reported the Houthi accusations that Saudi Arabia was responsible for the initial killing of seven people at the prison site. AP News provided the updated casualty figures, noting the increase to 23 deaths and the ongoing search for those missing. Meanwhile, the Mehr News Agency reports that Yemen has issued warnings regarding its retaliation, stating that the responses directed toward Saudi Arabia will be unforgettable. This development is significant due to the location of the ongoing conflict and the nature of the target. The reports from The Times of Israel specifically highlight that the battle for the Bab el-Mandeb strait is intensifying, which is a critical maritime chokepoint.

The targeting of a prison facility and the subsequent rise in casualties have led to heightened rhetoric from Houthi leadership, who are now framing their upcoming military responses as an inevitable consequence of the Saudi-backed airstrikes. Future developments will depend on the verification of the casualty counts and the nature of the promised responses from Yemen. Coverage indicates that the Houthis are preparing for a retaliatory phase, though specific targets or methods have not been detailed beyond the warning that they will be unforgettable. Observers are monitoring whether the intensity of the battle in the Bab el-Mandeb strait will further escalate following the prison strike and the reported deaths of 23 people.
