The addition of Kelly comes as part of the ongoing expansion of the series' ensemble cast for the upcoming season. Multiple media outlets have emphasized the connection between this project and other works by creator Taylor Sheridan.

Yahoo and MovieWeb note that Kelly is already known for his work in 'Lioness', another Sheridan production. USA Today describes the actor's contribution to the series through his 'ice-cold stare.' Furthermore, Collider reports a significant change in the series' cast, stating that the production is officially replacing Jon Hamm in Season 3. The integration of 'Lioness' talent into 'Landman' suggests a recurring collaboration between the actor and the showrunner.

Future developments to monitor include the further rollout of the Season 3 cast and the specific narrative implementation of Kelly's role as an industry power player. While the current coverage confirms his status as a series regular and his return to Fort Worth for filming, further details regarding his specific character arc or the nature of Jon Hamm's departure have not been specified in the provided reports.
