## Executive Summary
Soundgarden returns for a hometown NFL performance in Seattle featuring Taylor Momsen and Mike McCready, sparking backlash over broadcast decisions.

## Intelligence Brief
Soundgarden has performed a hometown NFL show in Seattle, featuring a lineup that included Taylor Momsen and Mike McCready. The event took place during a Seattle Seahawks game, marking a significant reunion for the group. According to coverage from Louder, the performance brought together these specific musicians for the sports event. In addition to the halftime show, Mike McCready, a member of Pearl Jam, performed a version of the National Anthem described as being in the style of Jimi Hendrix prior to the start of the game. Multiple outlets are tracking the event and its immediate reception.

Billboard reports on the specific nature of McCready's Hendrix-style anthem, while the Seattle Seahawks organization described McCready's experience of performing the anthem and playing with Soundgarden at halftime as being both incredibly special and incredibly poignant. KATU has focused on comments from Soundgarden founding member Kim Thayil, who discussed the band's reunion during the game and provided information regarding a new album. Context for this event centers on the band's history and their connection to the city of Seattle. The reunion occurs within the setting of a professional football game, blending regional sports culture with the city's musical legacy. The involvement of Mike McCready adds a cross-band element to the performance, linking Soundgarden with another prominent Seattle act, Pearl Jam.

The mention of a new album by Kim Thayil suggests that the halftime appearance is part of a broader return to activity for the founding members of the band. Attention is now shifting toward the broadcast of the event and future releases. Consequence of Sound reports that viewers have expressed anger toward NBC for the decision not to air Soundgarden's halftime performance. This broadcast controversy remains a primary point of contention among fans who missed the live show. Moving forward, the industry is watching for further details on the new album mentioned by Kim Thayil to KATU, as well as any responses from NBC regarding the viewer complaints about the missing halftime footage.
