## Executive Summary
Veteran journalist Suzy Kolber speaks out after being let go from ESPN following 27 years with the network amid broader company layoffs.

## Intelligence Brief
Suzy Kolber has publicly addressed her departure from ESPN, describing the experience of being fired as painful. The journalist, who spent 27 years at the network, has shared heartbreaking details regarding the nature of her exit. According to reports, Kolber felt the termination was particularly cold, noting that she did not even receive a thank you for her nearly three decades of service. This event is part of a larger wave of personnel changes at the sports media giant, where several high-profile figures have been removed from their positions. Coverage from the Sports Business Journal and the New York Post emphasizes the emotional weight of the layoff, focusing on Kolber's personal reflections on the process.

The Sports Business Journal specifically highlights that Kolber was among several big personalities let go by the network. Other notable figures identified in the layoffs include Van Gundy and McShay. BroBible also reports on the situation, echoing the sentiment that the lack of professional gratitude during the firing process added to the pain of the separation for the veteran reporter. Context for these staffing changes is provided by a memo cited in the Tri City Record. The publication reports that ESPN has started layoffs that are tied to the acquisition of the NFL Network.

This strategic shift suggests that the removal of long-term staff like Kolber, Van Gundy, and McShay is linked to broader corporate restructuring and the integration of new assets. The timing of these layoffs indicates a significant transition in how the network is managing its talent pool in light of the acquisition. Future developments to monitor involve the continued rollout of layoffs as ESPN integrates the NFL Network. While the coverage identifies Kolber, Van Gundy, and McShay as those already let go, it remains to be seen if more high-profile personalities will be affected by the acquisition-related cuts. Observers will likely look for further statements from former employees regarding the internal handling of these departures and further details from ESPN regarding the scope of the memo mentioned in the Tri City Record.
