## Intelligence Brief
On the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, the sports community is remembering the victims of the tragedy, with a specific focus on two scouts for the L.A. According to coverage from KTLA and Yahoo Sports, the L.A. Kings are commemorating two scouts who lost their lives during the events of that day. Specifically, reports from lakingsinsider.com identify these individuals as Ace Bailey and Mark Bavis. The remembrance efforts extend beyond a single team, as the broader hockey community reflects on the loss of these professionals who served the organization during a pivotal era of the franchise. Multiple news outlets are emphasizing the enduring legacy of these individuals across various levels of professional hockey. Yahoo Sports reports that both the NHL and the Detroit Red Wings have honored the victims on this 25th anniversary.

Furthermore, WCIV highlights how the Stingrays are commemorating Mark Bavis, noting the lasting impact of his legacy. The Times of India provides a wider perspective, noting that the 2,977 victims of the attacks included athletes from diverse backgrounds, ranging from cricketers to those associated with Stanley Cup champions. This collective remembrance is being mirrored by other organizations, including the Dallas Stars, who are also honoring the victims according to Yahoo Sports. Context for these commemorations is provided through the specific identities of the victims. My Lloydminster Now reports that Ace Bailey was the first Canadian identified among the victims of the September 11 attacks, underscoring the international reach of the tragedy. The significance of this anniversary is further highlighted by the New York Post, which features an exclusive story about an Islanders superfan whose 'always believe' sign continues to serve as a source of inspiration. The intersection of professional sports and national tragedy serves as a focal point for these stories, illustrating how the hockey community maintains a connection to those lost two and a half decades ago.

Looking forward, the NHL continues to integrate community service into its commemorative efforts. NHL.com reports that NHL employees are assisting food banks to mark the 25th anniversary of September 11. This suggests a shift toward active service as a method of remembrance. Additionally, the American Hockey League has issued its own acknowledgments regarding the anniversary. Future coverage is expected to focus on these continued efforts of service and the personal histories of those like Bailey and Bavis as their respective teams and the league maintain these annual traditions of honor and memory.
