## Executive Summary
Leaked firmware visuals have revealed Meta's 'Project Phoenix,' a super-slim next-generation mixed reality headset appearing ahead of the Connect event.

## Intelligence Brief
Meta's development of a next-generation mixed reality device, identified by the internal codename Project Phoenix, has become public following a leak. According to reports from UploadVR, the first clear visuals of the headset were discovered within Quest firmware. The leaked information suggests that this specific hardware is designed to be super-slim compared to previous iterations. This revelation comes shortly before Meta's Connect event, where the company typically unveils new hardware and software updates for its ecosystem. The coverage of this leak is widespread across several specialized technology and mainstream news outlets.

The Verge and UA.NEWS both report that the design of the slim Project Phoenix headset may have been revealed prematurely. India Today emphasizes the 'super-slim' nature of the VR headset, while roadtovr.com notes that the next-gen MR headset appears to have leaked specifically in the lead-up to the Connect event. Collectively, these outlets point to the Quest firmware as the primary source of the visual evidence. Contextually, the emergence of Project Phoenix represents Meta's continued push into the mixed reality space, moving toward more compact and wearable form factors. By utilizing a slimmer design, the company aims to evolve the current Quest hardware.

The timing of this leak is significant because it precedes the official Connect event, which serves as the primary stage for Meta to announce its strategic direction and hardware roadmaps for the coming year. The shift from traditional VR bulk to a more streamlined MR experience is a key focal point of the current reporting. Observers are now looking toward the upcoming Connect event to see if Meta will officially confirm the existence and specifications of Project Phoenix. Since the visuals were found in the firmware, future updates to the Quest software may provide further clues regarding the device's capabilities. It remains to be seen how Meta will address the leaked design and whether the final retail version of the headset will mirror the slim appearance found in the leaked firmware visuals reported by these five sources.
