## Executive Summary
Samsung is reportedly developing AI-powered smart glasses featuring built-in color displays, with potential launch windows spanning 2027 to 2028.

## Intelligence Brief
Samsung is currently working on the development of smart glasses that incorporate artificial intelligence and integrated display technology. According to reports, these wearables will be Android XR glasses featuring a color display, marking a significant shift in the company's wearable hardware strategy. While the specific technical specifications remain undisclosed, the core focus of the device is the integration of a built-in screen to provide visual AI-driven information to the user. The project represents a push into the extended reality space through a glasses form factor. Multiple technology news outlets have highlighted this development, though they differ on the expected timeline for the product's release. 9to5Google reports that the first Android XR glasses with a color display may launch in late 2027.

Conversely, Gadgets 360 indicates that the launch is slated for 2028. Other coverage from Gizmodo, Android Central, and PhoneArena has confirmed that Samsung is already working on these display-equipped AI glasses, with Android Central specifically noting that color display AI glasses could be the next primary focus for the company. This trend is significant as Samsung seeks to expand its ecosystem beyond smartphones and traditional smartwatches into the realm of XR wearables. The inclusion of a color display and AI capabilities suggests an attempt to move beyond simple audio-based smart glasses into a more immersive visual interface. PhoneArena has raised questions regarding the utility of such a device, suggesting it may be something few consumers actually need, which underscores the market uncertainty surrounding the adoption of high-end AR/XR glasses for the general public.

Future developments to monitor include official confirmation from Samsung regarding the final hardware specifications and a definitive release date. Because current reports from 9to5Google and Gadgets 360 conflict on whether the device will arrive in late 2027 or 2028, the exact window for commercial availability remains unverified. Further reporting is expected to clarify how the Android XR platform will be optimized for these glasses and how the integrated color display will function in real-world AI applications.
