## Executive Summary
Greece reports a record number of West Nile virus cases and 30 deaths as the virus spreads across Europe amid rising temperatures.

## Intelligence Brief
Greece is currently facing a significant health crisis as West Nile virus cases have reached a record 324. According to reports from Anadolu Ajansı and GreekReporter.com, the death toll associated with this outbreak in Greece has risen to 30. The transmission of the virus is notably high in specific regions, with eKathimerini.com highlighting a surge in West Nile virus transmission within Attica. This spike in infections indicates a severe public health challenge for the Greek healthcare system as it manages the record-breaking volume of cases. The scale of the outbreak is being monitored by multiple international and local news outlets.

Anadolu Ajansı and GreekReporter.com have both focused on the rising death toll and the specific count of 324 cases. Meanwhile, eKathimerini.com has provided more localized data regarding the surge in Attica. These reports collectively emphasize the severity of the current situation in Greece, contrasting the record numbers with previous years and pinpointing the geographical areas where the virus is most active. This regional crisis in Greece is part of a broader European trend linked to environmental factors. The Telegraph reports that West Nile virus is hitting Europe as temperatures climb, suggesting a correlation between the rising heat and the spread of the virus.

The impact extends beyond Greece; Outbreak News Today reports that West Nile virus cases have topped 500 in Italy. This indicates that multiple Mediterranean countries are simultaneously dealing with an increase in viral transmission, making it a continent-wide health concern rather than an isolated national event. Looking forward, the focus remains on the continued spread of the virus as weather patterns persist. Coverage from The Telegraph suggests that climbing temperatures are a key factor in the current European trend. Monitoring will likely center on whether cases continue to rise in Italy, where they have already exceeded 500, and if the record-breaking transmission in Greece, particularly in Attica, will lead to further increases in the death toll beyond the current 30 fatalities.
