> **Open Intelligence Dossier** · First detected: 2026-09-12 15:07 UTC · Category: Entertainment

## Executive Summary
The original cast of 'The Family Stone' is reuniting for a sequel officially titled 'The Families Stone' following the death of Diane Keaton.

## Intelligence Brief
A sequel to the film 'The Family Stone' is currently in development, featuring the return of almost all of the original cast members. According to reports from Variety and TheWrap, the project has been given the official title 'The Families Stone.' The returning ensemble includes Rachel McAdams, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Claire Danes. The Hollywood Reporter further specifies that Luke Wilson is also among the cast members returning for this new installment. The production marks a significant reunion for the actors who appeared in the original property. Multiple industry trade publications are covering the development of the sequel.

Variety, TheWrap, and The Hollywood Reporter have all focused on the specific cast members who will be returning to their roles. Deadline.com has reported that the project is in works with nearly the entire original cast participating. The coverage across these five sources emphasizes the scale of the reunion and the formalization of the title, while highlighting the key actors who have committed to the project. Context provided by Us Weekly indicates that this reunion is taking place after the death of Diane Keaton. This detail adds a layer of significance to the production, as the original cast reunites in the wake of the loss of a central figure from the first film.

The transition from the singular 'Family Stone' to the plural 'Families Stone' in the title suggests an expansion of the narrative scope, though specific plot details have not been elaborated upon in the current reporting. Future updates regarding the production will likely focus on the remaining cast members, as coverage from deadline.com notes that almost all, but not necessarily all, of the original cast are returning. Stakeholders and audiences can expect further announcements regarding the production timeline and directorial details, though the current reports from Variety and other outlets are focused primarily on the official title and the confirmed returning actors.
