## Executive Summary
Maya Cinemas is exiting key California locations, with Galaxy Theatres set to take over the Fresno Campus Pointe site.

## Intelligence Brief
Maya Cinemas has permanently closed its theater located at Campus Pointe in Fresno, California. According to reports from KMPH and ABC30 Fresno, this closure occurred unexpectedly and suddenly. The coverage confirms that Galaxy Theatres is slated to take over the operations at this specific Fresno location. This shift represents a total change in ownership and management for the cinema facilities at the Campus Pointe development, as the existing Maya Cinemas presence is completely removed to make way for the incoming Galaxy Theatres brand. Multiple media outlets have focused on the abrupt nature of these closures.

ABC30 Fresno and KMPH both emphasize that the Fresno shutdown was sudden, while The Business Journal reports the specific transition of the Campus Pointe site to Galaxy Theatres. YourCentralValley.com has also tracked the replacement of the cinema in Fresno. The reporting suggests a pattern of exits for the company, as KSBW reports that Maya Cinemas has also permanently closed its downtown Salinas theater, ending a presence in that specific location that lasted for 20 years. To understand the current situation, readers should note the scale of the company's withdrawal from these specific regional markets. The Salinas closure marks the end of two decades of operation in that downtown area.

In Fresno, the transition is not merely a closure but a direct replacement by a competitor. The coverage highlights a broader trend of Maya Cinemas leaving established sites in California, though the reports do not specify the overarching corporate reasons for these permanent shutdowns at this time. Future developments to monitor include the official opening date and operational timeline for Galaxy Theatres at the Campus Pointe location. While the Fresno site has a designated successor, the coverage regarding the downtown Salinas theater does not currently name a replacement entity. Observers will likely look for further announcements regarding whether other Maya Cinemas locations face similar permanent closures or if the transition to Galaxy Theatres is limited to the Fresno market.
