> **Open Intelligence Dossier** · First detected: 2026-09-13 04:07 UTC · Category: World

## Executive Summary
Recent projectile strikes against vessels in the Strait of Hormuz are escalating global concerns regarding the stability of international oil supplies.

## Intelligence Brief
According to coverage from The Times of Israel and rivieramm.com, projectiles have struck ships in the waterway, with rivieramm.com specifically reporting that double projectile strikes hit two different vessels. In a related development reported by the Hindustan Times, three foreign-flagged ships carrying Indian crews were attacked amid a broader context of war involving Iran. The coverage emphasizes the geopolitical volatility of the region and the immediate risk to maritime commerce. Reuters reports that these new incidents are fanning fears concerning threats to global oil supplies, as the Strait of Hormuz remains a critical transit point for energy exports.

While The Times of Israel focuses on the specific act of a ship being hit by a projectile during transit, rivieramm.com expands the scope of the threat by reporting that Houthi forces have established a foothold in Bab-el-Mandeb. Understanding the significance of these events requires recognizing the strategic importance of the choke points mentioned in the reports. The Strait of Hormuz and the Bab-el-Mandeb strait are essential for the flow of global trade and energy. The involvement of Indian crews on foreign-flagged ships, as detailed by the Hindustan Times, highlights the international nature of the casualties and the risks faced by multinational maritime workers during the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

Future developments to monitor include the stability of oil supply chains and further military movements in the region. Observers are tracking whether the Houthi foothold in Bab-el-Mandeb leads to additional disruptions in shipping lanes. According to the reports from Reuters and other outlets, the primary concern remains the potential for continued projectile attacks on foreign vessels and the resulting impact on the global energy market.
