Apple TV+ renews spy drama Slow Horses for Season 8 as Season 6 shatters Rotten Tomatoes audience‑score records.

## Intelligence Brief
On September 14, 2026, a cluster of entertainment outlets reported that Apple TV+ has confirmed a third renewal of its spy‑drama series Slow Horses, moving the show into an eighth season. The announcement follows a recent milestone in which the show’s sixth season set a new audience‑score record on Rotten Tomatoes, according to a Forbes piece. The renewal news appeared simultaneously across Dark Horizons, ELLE, Variety, Vanity Fair, The Daily Beast, Yahoo, and Deadline, each citing the series’ continued popularity and critical momentum.

Coverage from Dark Horizons and Yahoo focused on the straightforward confirmation of the Season 8 order, while Variety highlighted the partnership with Apple TV for the new installment. ELLE offered a preview, describing the upcoming plot as “deliciously dark,” and Vanity Fair quoted star Gary Oldman saying spies love the show. The Daily Beast positioned Slow Horses as television’s most underrated series, urging viewers to tune in. Deadline linked the renewal to the show’s recent Emmy win, suggesting the accolade bolstered network confidence.

Slow Horses adapts Mick Herron’s literary universe, following a group of disgraced MI5 agents navigating bureaucratic intrigue. Gary Oldman leads the ensemble, bringing gravitas that has helped the series cultivate a dedicated fan base. The Rotten Tomatoes audience‑score record noted by Forbes underscores the show’s resonance with viewers, marking it as a rare instance where fan ratings surpass typical genre expectations. The Emmy recognition cited by Deadline adds industry validation to the series’ growing reputation.

Looking ahead, the rollout schedule for Season 8 has not been detailed, but the convergence of renewal, record audience scores, and award acknowledgment points to heightened anticipation. Observers will likely monitor early viewership metrics and subsequent critical reviews to gauge whether the momentum sustains. Further updates from Apple TV+ and entertainment trade outlets will clarify release dates and any additional casting or narrative developments.
