## Executive Summary
Neon is challenging A24 by announcing an open-source SCP Foundation anthology movie compliant with Creative Commons licensing.

## Intelligence Brief
Neon has announced plans to produce a feature film based on the SCP Foundation, an online horror forum. According to reporting from The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, the project is envisioned as an anthology feature. This production is specifically designed to be compliant with a Creative Commons license, reflecting an open-source approach to the development of the movie. The announcement marks a significant entry into the cinematic adaptation of the long-standing internet horror collaborative project. Coverage from multiple outlets emphasizes the competitive nature of this announcement.

Deadline explicitly describes Neon's movie as a counter to a project from A24. The Verge reports that Neon is taking this Creative Commons approach to effectively stick it to A24. Other industry publications, including IndieWire and Vital Thrills, have confirmed that Neon is the studio leading the production, highlighting the strategic use of open-source licensing to differentiate their project from other potential adaptations of the SCP Foundation intellectual property. To understand the significance of this move, readers must note that the SCP Foundation originates as a collaborative online horror forum. The use of a Creative Commons license is a critical detail because it aligns the film's production with the open-source nature of the original community-driven content.

This legal framework allows for a different type of production cycle than traditional studio films, which typically rely on exclusive rights and closed-door intellectual property agreements, creating a direct clash between Neon's open model and the standard industry practices associated with A24. Future developments to monitor include the specific creative direction of the anthology and how the Creative Commons compliance will impact the final distribution. While the current coverage confirms that the movie is in the works, it does not specify the cast, director, or release date. Observers will be watching for further updates from Neon regarding how the open-source production will integrate with the online horror community that created the SCP Foundation, and how this counters the existing plans held by A24.
