## Executive Summary
A vehicle crash during a Tsawwassen First Nation Truth & Reconciliation event leaves two dead and triggers a civil emergency alert.

## Intelligence Brief
The collision occurred during a Truth & Reconciliation event hosted by the Tsawwassen First Nation. Castanet and the Vancouver Sun both headline the death toll and injuries, while CityNews Vancouver notes the issuance of a ‘Civil Emergency Alert’ for the Tsawwassen First Nation. WRAL adds that a possible medical emergency may have contributed to the driver’s condition.

The New York Times reports that the driver struck four people, and CBC repeats the casualty figures. The BBC’s report frames the incident within the broader Truth & Reconciliation event. The Truth & Reconciliation gathering is part of a national effort to acknowledge the legacy of residential schools and other injustices faced by Indigenous peoples.

The Tsawwassen First Nation, located near the mall, organized the ceremony to foster dialogue and healing. Hospital updates on the two injured persons are expected, and the Tsawwassen First Nation is likely to issue a statement regarding the impact on the ceremony. Further reporting from the outlets already covering the story will clarify legal proceedings, potential safety reviews at the mall, and any additional emergency alerts.
